Dear customer,

Today we are informing you about two important topics that have an impact on international trade with goods:

CBAM regulation

CBAM regulation On October 1, 2023, the CBAM Regulation (Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism), a climate protection instrument of the European Union, came into force, which provides for different obligations for Austrian economic operators when importing defined groups of goods.

We would like to point out that CARGO CLEARING SERVICE GMBH cannot take over the “CBAM reporting obligations for importers according to CBAM-VO” for you.

Further information on the CO2 border adjustment system can be found under these links: Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM) (bmf.gv.at) CBAM – Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism - WKO.at

Russia sanctions

Russia sanctions On June 23, 2023, the European Union adopted the 11th sanctions package against Russia. This includes a ban on the import of iron and steel products made from Russian raw materials. Since September 30, 2023, importers have had to provide evidence of the origin of the iron and steel products used.

Please contact us at office@cargo-clearing.at if you, as a regular importer of these goods, would like to speed up your shipment processing.

Further information on the sanctions can be found here: Customs & Ukraine/Russia (bmf.gv.at)

If you have any general questions or uncertainties, please contact the Austrian Federal Economic Chamber.
